In Mark 12:10 Jesus says, “Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.”
The story behind this text is that when the Jews were building the foundation for their temple, they had initially rejected an odd-shaped stone.
When it came time to fit in the main cornerstone, they were not able to find the right stone that would fit in and also bear the weight of being the main cornerstone.
After some time passed, the builders eventually looked again at the stone they had totally rejected for a basic foundation stone and decided to give that odd-shaped stone a try for the main cornerstone. And when they gave that stone a try, they discovered that it was a perfect fit.
Jesus quoted this scripture right after He had told the parable of His church rejecting Him. You see, the church didn’t realize that He was the One who was prophesied to bring healing and salvation to them. And so they rejected Him.
But there were some others who after some time realized that what they were doing wasn’t working, so they decided to give the odd-shaped stone (Jesus) another look. And when they did, they found that it was a perfect fit.
This chief cornerstone is Jesus. Jesus is God. And I John 4:8 says that God is Love! So this chief cornerstone is Love. But this Love is not just human love. Instead, this Love is God’s unconditional, unselfish Love.
So when Jesus (Love) came to this earth 2,000 years ago, His church rejected Love (Jesus). And the reason why they rejected Love was because they had a wrong picture of what Love was. And so when Love came, they didn’t recognize Love and so rejected Love.
In the same way, many of us have been conditioned to see Love as how we have learned and experienced love to be like growing up. We have then attributed this human love as being God’s Love. It is because of this that many people have rejected Love. But today, God is calling upon us to take another look at this chief cornerstone (Love).
For if we do take another look at Love, we will find that this unconditional, unselfish Love is a perfect fit. In other words, this Love that we will discover, will be exactly what we’ve been looking for, our entire lives.
The reason why I share this is because in my experience; unconditional, unselfish Love is the solution for all spiritual and emotional healing.
So this New Year as we’re making goals and resolutions; how about being willing to make it one of your goals to take another look at real Love this year for your Christian Emotional Healing.
And as you take another look, may you get to truly see that this Love is exactly what you’ve been looking for, your entire life. Keala
